Build Resolution:

The information you should keep in mind when requesting a build resolution for your part is A) the size of the smallest feature on the part B) The thinnest wall section of your part and C) The desired amout of post finishing you will want for your part.

High resolution build mode ( Viper Si2 ) is defined by two factors. The first is layer thickness (Z axis). For high resolutiion this is 0.002" or 0.001". The second is the laser beam diameter (X-Y axis). For high resolution this is 0.003". This can be very important if you have small features on your part. High resolution will create features as small as 0.005" with high detail, high dimensional accuracy, and smoothest finish. Use this resoultion if your part has cross sections of less than 0.012" or features smaller than 0.012". This mode creates the smallest "stair steps" on a curved or angled surface in the Z axis.

Standard resolution build mode is also defined by two factors. First is a layer height of 0.004" to 0.006" (Z axis) depending on the attributes of your part. The second is a laser beam diameter of 0.010" (X-Y axis) which will only build features of 0.012" or larger correctly. Use this resolution if your parts cross sections and features are all larger than 0.012". The "stair steps" are larger and thus not as easy to remove, especially if the part has complex curves.
